Drug dangers for horse owners

Posted: 01 Apr 2010 12:54 PM PDT

Last fall Riley got two oral doses/day of an antibiotic that is lethal to a certain segment of the population (human). You can bet I wore the gloves and mask as they recommended, and I worried about the barn workers who might come in contact with traces of the drug (in Riley's water bucket, for example).

This video helped me to see that horse owners need to be careful in handling of common drugs used in the horse world and in equine veterinary medicine: acepromazine, zylazine, butorphenol, ketamine.
