Cat Person Secrets for Winning Over the Confirmed Dog Person Posted: 03 May 2010 08:57 AM PDT I have always been a cat person, so when I met a great guy who was a self-described cat hater – I thought the fur was sure to fly. Slowly but surely, however, I have begun to whittle away at this cat hating exterior, to reveal the cat person inside. Finding the cat person hiding inside the dog lover can be difficult, but it can be done. Of course it does help to have the right kind of cat, and there are many breeds of cat known for their doglike personalities. A short list of those dogs in cat suits would include the Cornish Rex, the Devon Rex, the Bombay and the Sphynx, but there are many other breeds, and many mixed breeds as well, that fit the bill Having a cat that loves to play fetch and ride around on your shoulder is bound to win over all but the most hopeless cat hater. Simply spending time around cats can also help those dog people to adapt. Many people who think they hate cats simply haven’t been exposed to the sweet, gentle and loving creatures with whom we share our homes. Spending time around a wonderful cat is good for everyone, whether they be a dog person or cat person. And of course there is no reason the same house can’t contain both a dog and a cat. Despite the expression fighting like cats and dogs, I have found that most cats and dogs get along just fine. The key is to make the introduction a positive one, and to give everyone plenty of space while they are getting acquainted. Keeping the peace in the multi-pet household can be easier than you think. |
