Junie Update, Lee Is Facing Very Hard Decision

Posted: 07 Nov 2010 02:14 PM PST

Hi everyone this is Sachie. We have been covering Junie's story here for couple of months now, while we are away from Mexico trip, Lee(Junie's mom) went through a lot with Junie... and Lee is facing very difficult situation right now. I would like to see what you guys think she should do. I know after all this, it is very hard to ask, but d0 any of our readers would like to take up a challenge to take care of Junie? I think this is our last resort. Lee can no longer care for little Junie for financial reasons...I pray to God that someone will come forward!! and this is Lee and Junie's jurney last few days:

October 27th,

Hi Everyone, Just a quick update on Junie. She has been sick for more than a week now. she only gets up to eat and go potty. I think it is the Dexemethason. We have not heard from the Dermatologist in 12 since our first visit. So much for our agreement. Also I did not want to go the steroid route but was told these oral pills were safe and different. I took her in to a regular vet and they tested her liver to make sure there was no drug interactions...we will find out tomorrow. Junie does have herpes. 95% of all cats have this when steroids are given it allows the herpes- to become full blown - like a cold. This is why she is sick. But it has been 12 days - and seems like a long time to be sick. She is not interested in playing or guests. I am hoping to hear from the Derm. tomorrow. She gave me her home number and I called but she has not called back. Maybe tomorrow????? What is wrong with vets these days???

November 2nd,

No - never heard from them.Unfortunately , junie took a turn for the worst today. Something set her off and Ive never seen her quite like this. She was soo stressed and looking at me to do something. She was running around the house trying desperately to get at herself. I gave her xtra medicine to calm down. she finally slept but was having trouble breathing too. That was early this morning and I just got home. She tore her collar off and tore herself open. There is blood everywhere. I just don't know what happened. What could have set her off? We need help. So if anyone knows a truly committed Dermatologist in New Hampshire please let me know.Otherwise, I am seriously considering putting her out of her misery.

November 3rd,

Hi There, Just back from emergency with Junie. She stopped presenting symptoms as soon as we were outside my house! So maybe its the house. BUT THEY FOUND A HEART MUMMER AND FLUID SURROUNDING HER HEART. Just returned from emergency AGAIN. Junie had her Lasix pills - heart medicine. But she was still breathing rapidly -THEN - She FELL down the stairs !!!! 12 Metal stairs leading to the upper part of my apartment. She lost her balance. OMG! So Ran her in to emergency because she had the rapid breathing to begin with and her eyes had been glazed over. She is doing better now. Thank Goodness for the amazing Vet there. She has seen us now 4 times in the last few months. We are going to a heart specialist tomorrow so she didn't charge me for the visit Bless her for that !!!! Thank you all for your help and prayers I hope we find an answer soon!I have a steamer that I use to clean the floors with. But my apartment is a converted attic in a very old house. I try and use natural cleaners and those free of dyes and perfume I have not brought anything new into the house. Nothing. Not even potpori or burned a candle. Maybe it is the house!!!!

November 4th,

Hi, I have ionic function on my Hepa filter but have read it is not healthy -gives off sothing- cant remember - was mentioned on consumer reports. But will consider.Just back from the Cardiologist. She has a murmur but they could not see it on the ecocardiogram. Very cool! but said she did have thick heart walls - not that bad and that she most likely is is suffering from asthma - as I keep arguing with the Dr.'s and not a heart problem. So 600$ today got me to the Cardiologist and Rg.vet for two inhalers. She is now being treated for asthma.

November 6th,

Hi All, So Asthma medication was $250 and Distribution Chamber for medication as $82.00 . But her breathing got better. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE YOUR CAT STEROID INJECTIONS FOR ASTHMA!! My last cat became diabetic due to this. It is not a safe way to treat asthma in cats -Inhalers are safer because its a localized steroid only effecting the lungs. The heart specialist and several internal medicine specialists have confirmed this for me.Just a thought on my end. That being said, Guys , I really hate to say this but I can not afford Junie any more. I have to be responsible to my self and my future. That's just reality and she is not at all a happy cat anymore. Plus I travel for work and the bording of her is expensive. This week I have spent $1000.00 and I will be bording her starting today through next wed. As I have a business trip. Unfortunately, she will be quarentined because she does not have all her vaccines, Only Rabies. This is because of her allergies. Please understand that your donations have helped. But the costs have greatly exceeded. She is very unhappy and I don't sleep much any more and it is effecting my work as well. she has now taken to laying in her box which I have read is a place of security for cats. She hardly ever purrs any more. Its just very sad for us both.Back to Asthma - another thought, Raw diet also helped with my last cat. I may try this with Junie.Sorry everyone. I'm just concerned lately. I love her to pieces but maybe its too much for us both. If someone else is willing to take this on - God bless them. I just cant do much more. Truly sorry.Did hear back from someone in Hawaii associated w/ BF. They recommended an accupunturist here. But that is $200 initial visit and then treatment each time is expensive. I just cant do it. Her quality of life SUCKS.HUGS TO EVERYONE OUT THERE AND DEAR SACHI & GOMA.YOU HAVE ALL HELPED US IN SO MANY WAYS..THANK YOU JUST IS NOT ENOUGH...
